When in the market for new flooring, you’ll likely hear the term luxury vinyl tile thrown around — and for a good reason. Luxury vinyl tile flooring, otherwise known as vinyl plank flooring, is a versatile flooring option that comes in narrow planks instead of the standard square-shaped tile most contractors, designers and homeowners are accustomed to.

Because of its rectangular plank shape, luxury vinyl flooring is an affordable flooring material that can provide the look of wood at a fraction of the cost — and that’s only the beginning of the many benefits of luxury vinyl tile benefits.

THE ADVANTAGES OF LUXURY VINYL FLOORING

As a contractor, designer or homeowner, your projectsare one of the largest investments you’ll ever make. Because of this, you only want the best materials for these small or large complex projects. Why spend money and cause yourself the headache of using subpar products that get the job done, but not done well? Luckily for you, that’s where luxury vinyl flooring comes into the picture.

Luxury plank flooring has become one of the most popular flooring materials in recent years because of its affordability, longevity and authentic wood textures— and the many advantages speak for themselves! Let’s take a look at a few of the luxury vinyl tile benefits you’ll experience with this flooring option:

COST

Are you a fan of hardwood flooring but your estimate is making your head spin? Look no further than luxury vinyl tile which is a much more cost-efficient option that allows you to get the same beauty at a fraction of the cost. Hardwood tends to cost five to 10 times more than vinyl flooring, making it a better option for budgeting homeowners, landlords, contractors or those who need to cover a large commercial square footage.

Not only is the material more affordable, but luxury vinyl planks are relatively easy for the average person to install on their own. You’ll also save money in comparison to other flooring materials like tile where you are required to purchase additional materials like grout as well.

If you’re looking to get a high-end look without shelling out all your savings, then installing luxury vinyl flooring is an ideal flooring solution for any size project.

APPEARANCE

Close your eyes and picture your dream space. What comes to mind when you envision yourfuture floors for that new commercial space, showroom as a supplier or condo units as a landlord? Are you leaning towards a weathered and reclaimed wood-look vibe? Or are you more of a traditional fan? Whatever wood-like patterns and colors you’re looking for, you’ll be able to find luxury vinyl planks hat brings that vision to life. There is a huge selection of floor styles, textures, colors, and sizes that will allow you to customize the floor to your exact specifications.

There’s nothing quite like the versatility of luxury vinyl plank flooring. The plethora of options makes blending the floors into any space a seamless process by matching your decor and furniture. Now made 100% Virgin Material.

LOW MAINTENANCE

Want to know one of the best parts of installing luxury vinyl plank ? Vinyl flooring care and maintenance is

extremely easy — very little maintenance needs to be done to keep your floors looking spick and span. With regular mopping or light wiping of the floor’s surface, you’ll remove any dirt and debris that could build up on the tile if left uncleaned. That’s essentially all you’ll need to do to maintain your luxury vinyl floors! Because vinyl plank floors are water-resistant, you can use liquid cleaning products to restore the look of your floor without stressing about the possibility of warping or swelling of the tile floor.

One important thing to note is that even though vinyl tile flooring is waterproof, you should avoid using a steam cleaner on it. While you might think you’re keeping a deeper clean of your floors, you can release excess moisture into the subfloor, resulting in water damage underneath your flooring!

DURABLE

Consider the foot traffic in high rise buildings, retail stores, large warehouses or large homes. From kids playing, family gatherings, customers walkingin to shop or tenants in and out several times a day, you need a flooring option that can withstand normal to heavy foot traffic without blatantly showing signs of wear and tear.

Luxury vinyl tile flooring is one of the most durable options available to homeowners, contractors, designers and homebuilders. This means that you can have peace of mind knowing your floors can withstand whatever demand is required of it. It’s 100% waterproof capabilities and resistance to scratches, stains, and dents, you’ll be left with nothing but beautiful floors for many years to come.

Luxury vinyl flooring is not as common as other types of flooring to most people. However, it should be, it has certain qualities that will undoubtedly make you want to reconsider your current flooring. Ours LVP Brand JAGER as an example, is 100% Virgin Material and 100% Waterproof – not resistant…proof.

But to make things extremely simple, luxury vinyl flooring closely mimics natural wood flooring products and its look and feel. Since luxury vinyl flooring is 100 percent waterproof, while maintaining the realistic look of hardwood floors, it’s an ideal option for kitchens, mudrooms, basements and baths, or other places prone to moisture. Another appealing feature is cost. Luxury vinyl options, including their installation and maintenance are considerably less expensive than hardwood flooring. Low maintenance and a wide range of shapes and sizes also appeal to many landlords, business owners, contractors and designers.

CAN LUXURY TILES BE USED IN HOMES OR COMMERCIAL SPACE?

Of course! Luxury vinyl offers versatility like no other flooring option. You can use it in your home or high traffic commercial space without giving it a second thought. Not only is the quality top notch, they are extremely affordable as well. In fact, choosing luxury vinyl flooring will prove to be the best option for your family or for your clients. Use it in specific rooms, or aisles or lay it throughout the entire house, building or warehouse.

WHAT IS SO GOOD ABOUT ITS QUALITY?

The method for construction for luxury vinyl is one of the biggest reasons why it is so durable. There are 3 layers present in this flooring. The first layer consists of a high definition photo of the actual hardwood flooring. This photo is then glued onto another layer, also known as the backing layer. The third layer is the wear clear layer. This is the topmost layer and protects the photo layer from scratches and scuffs. 3D printing forms the clear layer to make sure that it looks and feels as real as possible. Our luxury vinyl floor bevel edge profile, double tempered and unilin click.

WHY IS LUXURY VINYL FLOORING THE NEXT BIG THING?

The only thing you need to know is the fact that luxury vinyl flooring has taken the flooring industry by storm and its popularity is growing with each passing day. Numerous people are now considering this option as a better alternative for tile. Not only that, luxury flooring looks great and is surprisingly inexpensive it’s super durable and waterproof too. And just in case you missed it the first time, ours happens to be 100% Virgin Material.

In the beginning, commercial spaces were the only places that used luxury vinyl flooring but over the last 3 years, it has been making its way into homes, high rise building and numerous other places. With its rise in popularity, it would be safe to assume that luxury vinyl flooring will soon make many other forms of flooring obsolete. It’s here to stay.

WHAT MAKES LUXURY VINYL FLOORING BETTER THAN THE TRADITIONAL FLOORING OPTIONS?

A couple of advantages make luxury vinyl flooring significantly better than traditional flooring options. Advantages include:

As we mentioned before, the biggest advantage that makes vinyl flooring better than other options is how affordable and durable it is. It’s also sound absorbent and environmentally friendly.

Durability is something that everyone seeks from their purchases as contractors, designers or homebuilders, especially when it comes to flooring. Luxury vinyl flooring is the most durable flooring option out there. You can install it anywhere (Kitchens, bathrooms etc.) and you will see that they are impervious to scuffs and scratches. Install over concrete or ply, above or below grade.

Exercise caution when using a solvent and follow manufacturer instructions. Never pour it directly onto thecarpet or allow it to reach the backing, because it can damage the latex that holds the primary and secondary backings together. Solvents are available in the cleaning supply section of hardware and home supply stores.

Nail Polish Remover
Two types of nail polish removers are available. One type contains acetone, a dry-cleaning solvent. Use the same precautions as with other dry-cleaning solutions. The second type contains amyl
acetate, which is used in many paints, oil, grease (POG) removers. Many POG removers leave residues that may cause rapid soiling. When using a POG remover, always rinse the area thoroughly with a dry solvent.

Detergent Solution
Mix one fourth (1/4) teaspoon of a liquid dishwashing detergent per one (1) cup of lukewarm water. NEVER USE A STRONGER CONCENTRATION! Thorough rinsing is necessary to remove detergent residues that may cause rapid soiling. It may be necessary to rinse with warm water several times to completely remove residues. Care should be used in selecting a detergent. Never use a laundry
detergent of any type, because laundry detergents may contain optical brighteners (fluorescent dyes) that dye the fiber. Do not select an automatic dishwashing detergent because many contain bleaching agents that destroy dyes and some fibers.

Warm Water
Lukewarm tap water should be used in most cases to rinse the cleaning solutions from the fiber. Failure to completely rinse the solutions from the fiber may cause accelerated soiling.

Vinegar Solution
Mix one (1) cup of white vinegar to two (2) cups of water. White vinegar is a 5% acetic acid solution. It is used most often to lower the alkalinity caused by detergent solutions or alkaline spills.

Ammonia Solution
Mix one (1) tablespoon of household ammonia per cup of water. Please note: Be aware that ammonia, if used improperly, can cause colour change. Be sure to test a hidden area.

Spot Removal Kit
Follow directions closely. Some spot removal kits contain: (A) a detergent solution and (B) a stain – resist solution. Use of the (B) solution prior to the complete removal of the spill may cause a permanent stain. Other spot removal kits may contain dry extraction cleaning compound that can be used effectively for most common household stains.

Call a Professional
Professional cleaners have the ability and the equipment to use more aggressive cleaning solutions to remove stubborn spills. Always consider consulting a professional cleaner regarding any spot removal question.

Find your spot in the list. Then, in numerical order, use the cleaning solutions listed (see descriptions of spot removal solutions). Continue using solution #1 as long as there is improvement in removing the spot. If no improvement, proceed to solution #2, solution #3, etc. until the spot is completely removed.

Difficult Stains

Bleaching Solutions
Many household cleaning products contain bleaching ingredients that can destroy carpet colour, leaving a white or yellow discolouration.

Blood
To remove blood, use only cool cleaning solutions to prevent setting the stain. Removal of bloodborne pathogens may require the assistance of a carpet cleaning professional.

Burns
Burn damage can be remedied only by reweaving, retufting, or resectioning the damaged area. However, the appearance of an area of charred carpet can be improved by carefully clipping off blackened ends of tufts using small, sharp scissors. Trim surrounding tufts to minimize indentation.

Candle Wax or Chewing Gum
Freeze with ice by placing the ice in a metal pan and setting pan on top of wax or gum. Allow to sit for about 10 minutes, until frozen. Break with a blunt instrument (i.e. a knife handle). Vacuum up the pieces. Repeat until removed. Using alcohol or a dry-cleaning solvent on a white absorbent cloth, blot the spot to dissolve the remaining residue and remove with fingers.

Dye Stains
Many beverages, medicines, cosmetics, foods, and other liquids contain dyes. These dyes may be absorbed into the fibers making removal very slow or impossible. Follow recommended procedures on the spot removal chart.
If removal does not appear to be possible, call your carpet cleaning professional for advice. Sometimes the stain can be hidden by spot dyeing, retufting, or by repairing the affected area.

Inkjet Cartridge
Blot with dry absorbent white cloth, use a wet vac or extraction machine to remove as much of the residue as possible. Blot with rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) applied with a white cloth, if stain remains, blot with household hydrogen peroxide. (Slight bleaching may occur.) If no change in affected area, consult with a carpet care professional.

Fingernail Polish
Use a non-acetate fingernail polish remover. Apply a small amount of the fingernail polish remover to a white cloth and work in gently – do not rub – working from the edges of the spill to the center to prevent spreading. Allow to remain on the spill a few minutes. Be patient, blotting the area several times.
Lukewarm tap water should be used in most cases to rinse the cleaning solutions from the carpet fiber. Failure to
completely rinse the solutions from the fiber may cause accelerated soiling.

Ink (Ballpoint Pen)
Follow recommended procedures on the spot removal chart to contain the spill using rubbing alcohol as the dry cleaning solvent. Rubbing alcohol (90% isopropyl) can be used as a dry cleaning solvent by applying with a cloth or towel. Do not pour rubbing alcohol directly onto the carpet.

Mustard
Some mustards contain very strong dyes that are difficult to remove. It may be necessary to remove the stained area and reinsert an undamaged section of carpet.

Rust
Rust almost always requires professional service because the chemicals required are hazardous when used improperly. If the stain is fresh, the spot removal chart may be successful.

Spot Solver

Most carpet available today has been treated with a stain-resist treatment, so many spills can be removed if immediate action is taken. The longer the delay, the higher the probability of a spill becoming a permanent stain. Staining is influenced by many factors, and no carpet is completely stain proof.

Spot Removal Steps – ACT QUICKLY!

• Blot liquids with a dry, white, absorbent cloth or white (no printing) paper towels.
• Do not scrub the area! Scrubbing can cause pile distortion in the affected area. Continue to use a dry cloth or paper towels until the area is completely dry. For semi-solids, gently scrape up with a rounded spoon. Solids should be broken up and vacuumed until completely removed.

Pretest any spot removal agent in an inconspicuous area to make certain the solution will not damage the fiber or the dye. After applying several drops to the testing area, hold a white cloth on the wet area for 10 seconds. Examine the carpet and cloth for colour transfer, colour change, or damage to the carpet. If a change occurs, another cleaning solution should be selected. *Courtesy of the Carpet and Rug Institute

Apply a small amount of the selected cleaning solution to a white cloth, allow to sit for about 10 minutes and work in gently.

Work from the edges of the spill to the center to prevent the spill from spreading. Do not scrub. Blot, absorbing as much as possible and repeat if necessary.

Continue using the first cleaning solution as long as there is a transfer of the spill to the cloth. It is not necessary to use all of the cleaning solutions if the first solution removes the spill. Be patient. Complete removal of the spill may require repeating the same step several times.

After the spill has been completely removed, rinse the affected area thoroughly with cold water and blot with a dry cloth until all of the solution has been removed. Some cleaning solutions will cause rapid soiling if the solution is not completely removed. Apply a one-half inch layer of white paper towels to the affected area and weigh down with a flat, heavy object. Continue to change paper towels as needed.

Many fiber manufacturers provide a toll-free cleaning assistance and advice (consult your warranty). Note the use of any topical treatment other than those recommended by the carpet manufacturer may void your stain warranty.
