Here are some tips from the Pacific Interiors Team to help you:
-
1) Always treat the affected area immediately. The longer the spill sits there, the harder it will be to remove the stain.
-
2) For a food spill, gently remove as much solid material as you can with a spoon, or a dull knife. Add room temperature water and blot, using detergent sparingly if needed. Once dry, use the highest suction function on your vacuum and clean the area back and forth. Repeat these steps as neededuntilthe carpet is completely clean.
-
3) If you require a spot removal solvent, use a product approved by the carpet or distributing manufacturer, out Pacific Interiors team can help you find the best cleaning product for your new carpet. Apply several drops to a cleanlight-coloured cloth and blot the carpet in an inconspicuous area. If you notice a change in the carpet color, stop and consult a professional carpet cleaner. If there is no change in the colour of the carpet, continue and gently blot the affected area – but be sure to follow the instructions carefully.
-
4) If stains remain after cleaning, moisten carpet tufts in the stained area with 3% hydrogen peroxide and let stand for one hour. Blot and repeat until completely clean.
